In the 2010s, with the rise of fandom SJ, fandom has begun to drift away from the “Your Kink is Not My Kink and That's OK” ethos of the previous few decades. The new mentality is that everyone should rigidly police theirs and, more importantly, everybody else's ships for anything “problematic.” Obviously, this creates many opportunities for abusive assholes to abuse other fans under the guise of “justice.”

Any social-justice topic can become misused in this way. The three biggest ones to be so deployed, however, are racism (“Klandom”), misogyny (proghet), and child sexual abuse (anti-shippers).
