Salad Dressing Wank of Christmas Eve 2013 (note: completely unrelated to Springs1) began with a nonny complaining that their mother insists on drenching salad with dressing and mixing it thoroughly, then complains that her guests won't will eat it.

The mother also gets offended when other people season the food that she's made with salt and pepper. “And this is a woman who flips her shit if someone brings a chocolate dessert to one of these meals because she's (mildly) allergic and that means she can't have any and yet she refuses to leave nuts out of dishes for the sake of people with known (actually life threatening) nut allergies.”

As is common in wanks about very mundane things, there was vigorous disagreement whether a good host gives their guests some leeway in how they want their food (example 1, example 2) or a good guest simply eats what's put in front of them (example 1, example 2). Some of this was culturally moderated, but of course there were the usual snowflakes: one who thinks adding salt and pepper to other people's dishes is rude, too, and another whining that her brother “always cover his food in extra shit like sauces,” including at home.

There was debate over dressing vs. pasta sauce and casseroles vs. salads. There were also a cannibalism joke, Christmas carol filk, and, perhaps inevitably, a joke about "tossing salad."

On Jan. 4, Salad Dressing Wank was referenced in a thread about a fic writer who goes by Waldorph. Someone asked, “Who's Waldorph?” Someone else replied, “I believe it's a kind of salad. Which leads inevitably to the question of dressing.”
