September 14, 2015: The same wank reappears. It's longer and more heated this time.

“In AmE, pasta rhymes with hosta.”

“Um, no. It doesn't.”

“Uh, I'm British and I say pasta to rhyme with HAH-sta. So IDK what Americans are doing.”

This goes on for hundreds of comments. Most commenters don't use IPA and just refer to the pronunciations of other English words or use English pseudo-phonetic spelling, leaving everyone more confused than when they started.

(For the record, according to Wiktionary, in the US, New Zealand, and for some Canadian speakers, “pasta” is /ˈpɑːstə/. In the UK and for other Canadian speakers, it's /ˈpæstə/. The Italian pronunciation is neither: it's /ˈpasta/.)
