June 20, 2014: A nonny started a thread titled //“Sex Slave Auction”//. “Post a fandom, and let others decide which characters would stand a chance at being bought at a sex slave auction (and which would be an economy option, obviously).”
After a dozen or more subthreads in which the characters in various fandoms (mostly big ones) were discussed in this manner, a nonny opined, “This is so creepy.” Responses at first ranged from agreement to textual eyerolling, then got into a debate about why this thread and not so many others on problematic topics pinged some nonnies as creepy.
There's more distance between the topic and the speakers in those discussions. Some of the comments in this thread are straight up hey here's my spank bank, so in spite of the general prevalence of YKINMK and that's okay on F_FA, I would guess some memers are actually still uncomfortable with kink if it's presented directly as-is rather than couched in analytical rhetoric.
After some more subthreads about specific fandoms and characters, another nonny said, “Wow this is skeevey.” More discussion ensued, the tone of it a bit more contentious than before.
In the first debate subthread, one nonny snarked, “This meme imagining horrible sexy things happening to fictional characters? Heavens! What's next, ‘which character would cry prettiest while being tentacle raped?’” (The sole reply: “Yes, please.”) Sure enough, the next page began with a thread titled, “Which fictional character would cry prettiest while being tentacle raped?” It proceeded rather placidly until about two thirds of the way through, when one nonny kicked off a fairly successful derail into race and gender wank.
