In June 2010, Gatorgrrl posted to LJ's SPN J2 BigBang community a rather shockingly racist J2 fic, “Caught Between the Earth and Sky,” in which Dr. Jensen and photojournalist Jared went to Haiti after the earthquake. To make matters worse, the art for the fic, by Mementis, “originally included a photo of an unnamed Haitian woman, a survivor of the quake, and other photos of the aftermath.”

We can all agree that that was a Fic With Issues. But the SJW response to it set off some thoughts about the nature of SJ in fandom.
