“Dogfuck Rapeworld” is FFA’s favorite term for omegaverse, also known as alpha/beta/omega (A/B/O). For the unfamiliar, omegaverse is a genre of AU fic that [[http://cfamiliaris.livejournal.com/12861.html|arose in //Supernatural// fandom in 2011]], based on outdated theories of canine pack and mating behavior. The genre is fully explained on [[http://fanlore.org/wiki/Alpha/Beta/Omega|Fanlore.org]], and the writer Netweight has written a fandom history of omegaverse titled [[https://archiveofourown.org/works/1022303|“The nonnies made them do it!”]]

The phrase “Dogfuck Rapeworld” originated in a series of September 2013 troll comments:

A nonny [[http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/66334.html?thread=313497118#t313497118|responded]], //“My next band will be an Anal Cunt tribute band called Dogfuck Rapeworld. Thanks, ’nona.”//

Shortly thereafter, meme naturally took the phrase and [[http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/67535.html?thread=318027727#t318027727|ran]] [[http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/66936.html?thread=315983992#t315983992|with it]]/[[http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/69500.html?thread=328689788#t328689788|adopted it]]/[[http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/69261.html?thread=328292237#t328292237|smished it]]/[[http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/69832.html?thread=329750728#t329750728|called it George]]. Two nonnies [[http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/68440.html?thread=323335256#t323335256|expressed]] [[http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/68440.html?thread=323335000#t323335000|affection]] for the troll who came up with the phrase. At least one nonny [[http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/69832.html?thread=329758408#t329758408s%20the%20official%20tag%20on%20AO3|hoped it would take over as the official tag on AO3]]. In fact, the author of [[http://archiveofourown.org/works/403644|a well-known AO3 meta]] on a/b/o [[http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/70391.html?thread=333020151#t333020151|hinted in FFA]] that she //“is going to finally post the fourth part, and is desperately trying to figure out how best to incorporate the phrase //‘//dogfuck rapeworld//’//.//"////

Within a month, meme had become so blasé about the term that some gentlefailers were hoping the trope would be replaced in popularity by “[[http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/69500.html?thread=328923772#t328923772|Mantisfuck Rapeworld]].” Many other variations on the phrase have since arisen: [[http://fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org/90870.html?thread=437791222#cmt437791222|Catfuck Barbworld]], [[http://fail-fandomanon.livejournal.com/81222.html?thread=387076678#t387076678|Gladiatorfuck Deathworld]], [[http://fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org/105358.html?thread=526036110#cmt52603|Aphidfuck Beeworld]] ([[http://fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org/105197.html?thread=525001453#cmt52500|reference]]), [[http://fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org/151309.html?thread=805685261#cmt805685261|Sparrowfuck Eggworld]], and a variety in [[http://fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org/96384.html?thread=471974016#cmt471974016|this thread on non-canid A/B/O alone]] (e.g., Ratfuck Phantomworld, Slugfuck Stabworld, Anglerfishfuck Horrorworld).

In June 2014, a nonny [[http://fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org/91704.html?thread=444429880#cmt444429880|gamely attempted to translate a Japanese primer on A/B/O]] — and threadfailed, and wound up at the top of page four. They were embarrassed for a while, especially as the threadfail has continued to be joked about good-naturedly. In late January 2015 they [[http://fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org/122352.html?thread=626575088#cmt626575088|remarked]], //“I’m// //glad to see that my moment of stupidity continues to provide meme with entertainment.//”//// This incident has now been commemorated with its own page: [[omegaverse-comic-threadfail|Omegaverse Comic Translation Threadfail]].

  * In September 2014, [[http://fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org/104717.html?thread=523371533#cmt523371533|one nonny]] asked for some guidelines to getting into exploration of A/B/O fic. //“////I’m, um, asking for a friend.”// This led to a discussion of the phrase [[http://fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org/104717.html?thread=523420429#cmt523420429|“yaoi hole not needed.”]]
  * In February 2015, a thread titled [[http://fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org/123215.html?thread=634194767#cmt634194767|“Maybe time to lay off the fic”]] produced the term “dogfuck rapeoffice.”
  * In March 2015, [[http://fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org/126810.html?thread=655138394#cmt655138394|a nonny asked]] the meaning of the Japanese term //baasu// in a/b/o discussions. It turns out the term is the Japanese transliteration of the English word //verse//, and //“//[[http://fail-fandomanon.dreamwidth.org/126810.html?thread=655773530#cmt655773530|//Basically,//]] //where in an English fic they might say ‘the abo permutation’ or ‘the abo gender’ (I think, it’s been a few years since I’ve read an abo fic in English) in Japanese they say ‘verse’.”//
